Special Educational Needs

At MK Primary PRU, our main and specialist area of need is social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties and associated challenging behaviours.

The vast majority of children referred to us from our partnership primary schools already have SEND needs identified. Nonetheless, we are committed to the early identification of unmet or unidentified special educational needs. MK Primary PRU is a highly inclusive setting, and although SEMH is our specialist area of need, we provide provision for a range of needs across all four broad areas of special educational needs;

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health
  • Sensory and / or Physical

We use the graduated approach to meeting SEN and Disability (SEND) in line with the SEN Code of Practice 0-25, 2014. All children throughout the school are monitored regularly to ensure they continue to access the curriculum successfully and make steps of progress in their social and emotional development.

If you wish to discuss any queries or concerns relating to your child and SEND support, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
